A crucial update for the Black Ice Tiff Viewer has just been released! This release corrects a critical file association problem In the Tiff Viewer for desktops and servers.

The file association now works for new Domain and System users who have never logged into the computer before the Tiff Viewer was deployed and configured on Windows server 2019/2016/2012 R2 and on Windows 10.

If a new domain or system user is added to the system, the configured file association will now be applied to their account with version 12.47.1275 or later of the Tiff Viewer.

The file association fixes will affect VDI deployment on Citrix, VMware, and Microsoft when the Tiff Viewer is installed on the master Image.

In previous versions, the file association for .TIF or .TIFF files only applied if the user had already logged into the system and had a desktop on the system. This caused an increased workload for system administrators as they would have to help configure the file association for new users each time.

Black Ice Software offers a command line utility for system administrators, with large scale deployment, to configure the file association for existing installations. The BiSetFileAssociation configures the default file association of the system for new users who are added to system at a later time. The BiSetFileAssociation can be deployed through Group Policy and is compatible with SCCM.
