Document Converter Printer Drivers
version 13.70 has been released!
The Black Ice Printer Drivers version 13.70 includes Black & White 1 bit or 8 bit grayscale output instead of 24 bit PDF color. Other new features include seven different dithering, resampling methods using Bilinear and Cubic Spline algorithm, color pattern options, and an added new data stream compression method. The color depth conversion methods are applied to fonts, graphic objects, and images in the PDF document.
The complete list of improvements in the latest Black Ice Printer Driver release includes the following:

- Updated Image SDK demo dlls to version 12.09.209 in 32bit RTKs
- Added image file support to 64bit AutoPrint samples (C++, C#, Visual Basic)
- Added MSI installer for “End User” PDF and ColorPlus Document Converter Server
- Updated manuals
Force 1 bit Black & White printing;
The user can force the Black Ice Printer Drivers version 13.70 to print the documents in 1 bit Black & White output instead of 24 bit PDF color to optimize and reduce the file size. The 1 bit Black & White depth conversion is applied to fonts, graphic objects, and images. With this feature most of the documents file size can be reduced.
LZW Compression method;
LZW Compression (Lempel–Ziv–Welch) is a universal lossless data compression algorithm. LZW compression became the first widely used universal data compression method on computers. A large English text file can typically be compressed via LZW to about half its original size. LZW became very widely used when it became part of the GIF image format, and it is also used in TIFF and PDF files.
Bilinear and Cubic Spline resampling methods;
The users can easily downsize the images in their documents to achieve smaller output file size or upsize the images to achieve better quality on the stretched images in the resulting file. Two algorithms can be used to compute the new pixels from the original: linear interpolation and cubic splines.
Color Patterns;
If Color Patterns are enabled, the Printer Driver will create dithered bitmaps for each used color in the PDF document, resulting in better quality and colors. The Color Patterns option is recommended to create visually better quality PDF documents, but not recommended for emailing or displaying it on the web, due to the increased PDF file size..
