Black Ice Software is proud to announce the support for Reading, Displaying, Printing, and Converting Legacy Microsoft Office Document Imaging (MODI) Annotation and OCR text data, with the release of TIFF Viewer version 12.80.

The MODI annotations types are converted to Black Ice Software XML annotations:

Tiff files produced by the legacy MODI application with Annotations and OCR text data can now be converted to an easy to used portable XML based Black Ice annotation format.
With the new addition of compatibility with MODI and the recent release adding compatibility with Wang Annotation format, the Tiff Viewer is now fully backward compatible with legacy applications that produced Tiff files.

For customers with .MDI file type, which is a proprietary file format of MODI and was discontinued as part of Office 2010, Microsoft provides a "MDI to TIFF File Converter." This converter is a command-line tool that can be used to convert MDI files to TIFF files which can then be viewed in the Black Ice Tiff Viewer.

With the latest Black Ice Tiff Viewer capable of reading and accessing MODI Annotation and OCR text it is now a full replacement to any company still needing to replace MODI.

With Microsoft Office Document Imaging (MODI) reaching End of Life, it is no longer consider to be HIPAA compliant. The Black Ice Tiff Viewer is capable of viewing, editing and printing scanned/faxed TIFF images and other image types, resulting in an ideal substitute for MODI. When paired with the Black Ice Printer Drivers users can convert any file format to Tiff, PDF and more. The evaluation copy of both solutions is fully functional for 15 days with free priority technical support during your evaluation.
