Black Ice Software has released the HTML5 IceViewer version 1.05 for TIFF documents, with the ability to upload documents into a database with OCR data using HTTPS protocol. The IceViewer version 1.05 also includes a new database wide document content search feature.

The OCR engine can generate hOCR data or plain text data. The hOCR data contains font and character positioning information in HTML format. The hOCR data can be used for database searches to query relevant information.

The documents can be OCR’d and saved to the database through memory without having any footprint on the local System/PC remaining fully HIPAA compliant.

The new database wide search allows users to find Patient Records, Invoices, or any other documents very quickly and easily by searching for a patient name, invoice number, or any other specific text.

The latest release of the IceViewer supports plain text OCR and hOCR formats. Plain text only contains the text information, while hOCR contains positions and layout information, making it possible to convert the text back into a formatted document.
