Print2RDP version 6.50 is released! | ||||
Black Ice Software has released the Print2RDP version 6.50 with unique static printer naming for local and shared network printers. By default the Black Ice Print2RDP and Microsoft Remote Printing attach a unique session ID to the printer name. The session ID changes every time the User logs in, but is a guaranteed method to generate a unique printer name for multiple users with same physical printers. In some cases, it is required that that the printer name must remain both static and unique at the same time for user on the server. Some example include when printing from certain EMR application or programs such as Crystal Reports. Simply removing the session ID from the Printer Name may cause the printers not to attach to the server as some other users may have the same physical or virtual printer names. On Terminal and Citrix Server to accomplish this task requires special printer naming, since every printer name must be unique on the PC even if multiple users have the same physical printers attached to their PC, which is a common practice. For example; “Xerox WorkCentre 6515-John.Smith” clearly identifies the printer and the user, which does not regularly change. For example; “HP OfficeJet Pro 6700 on 192.168.0.9-John.Smith ” the same shared network printer can be mounted on the server by multiple users. The new unique printer naming can be set as a rule for all users printers, greatly simplifying administrators work to assign printer names for every user on the Server over the old static printer naming option, which had to be configured for each user’s printers individually. The old Static Printer naming option is still available for Administrators. |
