On the General tab one can modify general options, such as thumbnail view or automatic saving.
General
Open documents in new window - If this option is enabled, TIFF Viewer always opens documents in a new window. If disabled, TIFF Viewer always opens documents in the current window and closes the old document.
Enable automatic saving of image, annotations and OCR Data when closing the document - If this option is enabled, every modification the user makes on a document (for example, rotation, flip, annotation) is saved automatically when the file is closed.
Enable thumbnail view for multi-page documents - If this option is enabled, the thumbnail view is displayed for all multi-page documents.
Enable thumbnail view for single-page documents - If this option is enabled, the thumbnail view is displayed for all single-page documents.
Display File extension at start-up - If this option is enabled, the File Extension (see Associating Files to be opened with the TIFF Viewer section for more information) dialog appears at every start up.
Display Getting started window at start-up - If this option is enabled, the Getting Started window appears at every start up.
Notify me if Tiff Viewer is not the default TIFF application - If this option is enabled, Tiff Viewer will check if it is the default TIFF application when a TIFF file is opened. If Tiff Viewer is not the default, then the user will be asked to change the default TIFF application to Tiff Viewer. (Only once for every Tiff Viewer window.)
Enable copying multiple pages to the Office Clipboard - If this option is enabled, users can copy and paste multiple pages from Tiff Viewer to Microsoft Office products.
Monochrome conversion method – This option specifies the dithering method of monochrome (black and white) documents. Digital half-toning, also referred to as spatial dithering, produces the illusion of continuous-tone pictures on media that is only capable of displaying binary picture elements, for example, fax machines and most printers.
· Floyd-Steinberg and Jarvis-Judice-Ninke are the text book filters.
· The Smooth, Sharp, and Stucki filters are less known, but produce better quality output.
· Sierra dithering is based on Jarvis dithering, but it's faster while giving similar results.
· Burkes dithering is a simplified form of Stucki dithering that is faster, but is less clean than Stucki dithering.
· Stevenson-Arce is slow but can produce higher quality images.
Use the following theme – Users can change the appearance of the TIFF Viewer by selecting a theme from the dropdown menu.
Scanning
Batch scan directory – This option specifies the default scan directory where the batch scanned documents will be saved. One can use environment variables in the path.
Remember last used batch scan directory – When this option is enabled, the Tiff Viewer will always remember and use the previously used batch scan directory.
Use the following TWAIN data source manager for scanning - Twain data source manager selection allows users to select which data source manager version must be used for scanning. By default, Tiff Viewer uses the Twain 2.0 or later data source manager (TWAINDSM.dll). The option to use the older data source manager (twain_32.dll) is provided for compatibility with older scanners, or for using Citrix scanner redirection.
Please note that the 64-bit version of the TIFF Viewer does not support Twain version 1.9 or earlier versions and only the Twain 2.0 or later versions are available.
In the Tiff Viewer 32-bit version, the following options are available:
· Twain 1.9 or earlier
· Twain 2.0 or later
