TIFF Viewer Chrome / Edge extension suddenly removed from domain computers

The TIFF Viewer installation installs the TIFF Viewer Chrome / Edge extension by creating a local ExtensionInstallForceList Google Chrome policy in the registry.

In the case of the Domain Controller also using Google Chrome-related policies or installing extensions using the ExtensionInstallForceList policy, it may overwrite the local policy. As a result, the TIFF Viewer Chrome / Edge extension may become unavailable.

One possible solution could be to add the Black Ice Tiff Viewer Chrome extension to the ExtensionInstallForceList policy on your Domain Controller to let the Google Chrome Group Policy install the extension.

The following Google Chrome Group Policy has to be enabled/configured:

Extensions node > Configure the list of force-installed apps and extensions policy

Value: hinllambflhajfhffnaeplcaonpbpkgo;https://clients2.google.com/service/update2/crx

NOTE: The TIFF Viewer Chrome extension requires the Black Ice TIFF Viewer desktop application installed on the computer, therefore we recommend only applying the modified ExtensionInstallForceList policy on computers, where you plan to use the Black Ice TIFF Viewer desktop (thick client) application. The ExtensionInstallForceList policy installs the extension from Google Store.
