It is much quicker to use a specific barcode read method when the barcode type is known, such as ReadHorVerCode128BarCode method, than it is to use the AutomaticReadHorVerBarCode method. It is recommended to use the AutomaticReadHorVerBarCode method in cases where developers are not sure which type of linear 1D barcode will be used.
The AutomaticReadHorVerBarCode method is about four times faster than the AutomaticReadSkewedBarCode method, and can detect barcodes that are skewed +/- six degrees from the horizontal plane. Additionally, the AutomaticReadHorVerBarCode method is capable of performing more internal error correction than the AutomaticReadSkewedBarCode method. For the best efficiency, the AutomaticReadSkewedBarCode method should only be used when no other linear 1D barcode read method can be used.
