IceViewer has multiple built-in tools to cleanup/repair scanned documents. The document cleanup tools can be accessed on the top Tools toolbar.
Deskew
Use this feature to correct images that were skewed from fax transmission, scanning, and so on. This feature analyses the active document and then corrects the image to remove any skewing of the page.
Punch hole Removal
It is a common problem that scanned images show the locations of the holes created by a hole puncher.
Removing the black marks has to be done manually for each page, by opening the image and erasing the black dots from the side of the image. This process is slow and highly inefficient.
The Punch Hole Removal function automatically detects the location of punch holes on the image and removes them. The function works for most common hole punch standards. It will remove the three and five hole marks created by the US hole punchers and also removes the 2 and 4 hole marks created by European hole punchers.
The function automatically detects the DPI (resolution) of the image. As an advanced setting, for special cases, the diameter of the punch holes can be specified as a parameter:
NOTE: Only vertically aligned holes can be removed. If the holes are aligned horizontally, rotate the image so that the holes are on the left side vertically aligned.
Border Removal
This function detects the black border of the scanned image and replaces the black pixels with white pixels. The function only works for monochrome, 8 and 24 bit per pixel images.
Line Removal
The Line Removal is used with faxed or scanned documents. Faxed documents often contain annoying horizontal lines due to communication noise on the telephone line. By utilizing the Line Removal functionality of IceViewer, these lines can automatically be removed from faxed documents. Scanned documents in some cases, also have horizontal or vertical lines due to the banding or folding of papers.
Limitations:
NOTE: Line Removal feature is only available for Monochrome (1 bit) and 8 bit grayscale documents.
Clean Image
Clean Image is intended for faxed images. It eliminates some of the noise created from faxing the image file.
