Error code 5 is a generic Windows error code that means “access denied”.
Error code 5 may occur if the installer does not have sufficient permissions to install the printer driver.
Please try to disable the antivirus on the computer.
Please also try disabling Windows Defender for the time of installation, to see if it solves the issue.
If you are using the MSI installer and the issue persists, to help us troubleshoot the issue, please create a detailed MSI installation log file and Printer Driver installation log and send it to us.
To generate the detailed installation log with Printer Driver MSI installers, please follow these steps:
Run the command prompt as an administrator.
Navigate to the Printer Driver InstallShield MSI.
Install the Printer Driver MSI installers with the /L*V "[Log file path]" and BITRACE=1 parameters.
For example:
msiexec.exe /i "BlackIceColorPlus_X164Bit.msi" BITRACE=1 /L*V "c:\temp\installation.log"
After the log file is successfully generated, please send the BiPDMSITraceDataLog.txt and the "installation.log" files back to help us resolve the problem.
The Trace Log is saved to the BiPDMSITraceDataLog.txt log file in the User's temp folder (%TEMP%).
(For example: c:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Temp\BiPDMSITraceDataLog.txt)
