With 2021 coming to a close, we wanted to take a moment to summarize some of the major improvements made to the Tiff Viewer in the past year.
Recent Improvements

Update OCR Functionality
For many of our customers, their users utilize the Tiff Viewer for the processing of documents. This process usually entails taking information from the document and inputting the information into a database or other application. Optical Character Recognition allows users to take an image and decipher the text from the image for other uses. With the updated OCR we were able to improve on features such as Search, Copy area to Clipboard, OCR whole document, OCR select pages, and much more with improved accuracy and speed.
Chrome and Edge Browser Extension
On August 17th, 2021, Microsoft ended support for Internet Explorer 11 across its Microsoft 365 apps and Microsoft's online services like Office 365. The TIFF Viewer Chrome and Edge Browser Extensions are ideal alternatives to IE for viewing, editing, OCRing, and printing single page or multipage TIFF documents in Medical applications, Faxes and to view tiff files on the web. The OCR functionality of the browser extension is a unique feature to Browser Extensions from Black Ice Software.
PDF Support Now Available
The Tiff Viewer is now offered as the Standard Tiff Viewer for viewing of Tiff files only and a Pro version for viewing of Tiff and PDF files. With this added functionality users can now view more documents under a single familiar application.
Improved Installers
With the latest Tiff Viewer, Administrators now have an option for a 64-bit Installer. This installer allows the Tiff Viewer to now use up to 4GB of memory when opening image files. Additionally, administrators now have much more control over features installed with the Tiff Viewer.

Complete MODI Replacement!
With Microsoft Office Document Imaging (MODI) reaching End of Life, it is no longer consider to be HIPAA compliant. The Black Ice Tiff Viewer is capable of viewing, editing and printing scanned/faxed TIFF images and other image types, resulting in an ideal substitute for MODI. When paired with the Black Ice Printer Drivers users can convert any file format to Tiff, PDF and more.
