E-mail activated broadcasting

Impact Fax Broadcast is capable of fax broadcasting based on commands passed from incoming emails. You have to define the user’s name, the user’s password and the IP address or domain name of the mail server and account for Impact Fax Broadcast to monitor. Black Ice recommends creating a unique email address for this purpose to avoid processing unnecessary email messages.

The commands to be used for the fax broadcast must be in the subject of the email. The text or file to be broadcasted can be sent as an attachment to the email itself.

If text is sent, the default text conversion parameters are used to create TIFF images to broadcast. These are the same as the Text Conversion Parameters dialog box. If a file is attached to the email, the text part of the email will not be broadcasted. Only the last attachment will be broadcasted.

Currently supported attachments include, PDF files, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, HTML files, RTF files, TIFF Group 3 1D image files or text files.  Please Note that in order to use the Email to Fax functionality to convert Microsoft Office files, the Microsoft Office application must be installed on the same PC as the Impact Fax Broadcast.  For PDF Files, Adobe Acrobat Reader must be installed.

Available commands in the subject field:

1.    g=  groupname

2.    f=   individual fax number

3.    d=  date    format: mm/dd/yyyy

4.    t=   time    format: hh:mm

5.    cp

6.    master

7.    assigned

Every command must be surrounded by brackets ([, ]) and each command must be separated by commas. You should replace the italics text part of every command described above with your settings. For example:

[g=Peruvian Textiles],[d=12/1/1998],[t=13:55],[master],[cp]

Comment messages can be positioned between the commands, they will not be processed; however only commands are allowed between two brackets.

The group name or the individual fax number must be specified.   You cannot enter a group and name and an individual fax number at the same time.  If both pieces are entered into the subject field, the fax will only be broadcasted to the individual fax number.

The date and time commands are optional. If they are used together, the fax broadcast will begin at the exact the time you specified, as long there is not a broadcast in progress. If you specified an earlier time that has already passed, the broadcast will begin immediately after the email is processed. No new email messages are processed while broadcast is in progress.  If only the date is specified, the time will be set to midnight automatically. If only the time is specified, the date will be the current day the email was processed.

Email attachments (TIFF files to be faxed), are placed into the Email directory of the Broadcast software for logging.

cp command is optional. If it is used, and the default cover page is defined, the fax broadcast will send the default cover page with the mailing.

assigned and master commands are optional. You cannot enter both of these commands at the same time. If both pieces are entered into the subject field, the selected fax list will be filtered only against MASTER REMOVE LIST before broadcasting.
