Description of the INI File Values

 

[Startup]

 

BrowserPlugin: This key is only used in Tiff Viewer version 13.00 and older.

To set the file formats the Browser Plug-in is registered to when installing Tiff Viewer using the MSI installer, use the “PLUGIN” MSI parameter. For more information, please see the MSI documentation.

The BrowserPlugin key sets the file formats the Browser Plug-in is registered to when the Administrator clicks “Enable” in the Tiff Viewer main menu > Browser Plugin Switch. If the plug-in is already enabled, the Administrator has to click “Disable” then “Enable” for the changes to take effect:

Possible values:

 

 0: Tiff Viewer was installed with the PLUGIN=0 option. This value only indicates that Tiff Viewer was installed with the Browser Plug-in disabled. If the Browser Plugin is enabled on the user interface by the Administrator, it will be associated with both JPEG and TIFF files.

 

 1: The Browser Plug-in is associated with both JPEG and TIFF files

 

 2:  The Browser Plug-in is is associated with TIFF files, but not associated with JPEG files; therefore the Tiff Viewer Browser Plug-in will not be the default viewer to open JPEG files in Internet Explorer.

 

 3:  The Browser Plug-in is is associated with JPEG files, but not associated with TIFF files; therefore the Tiff Viewer Browser Plug-in will not be the default viewer to open Tiff files in Internet Explorer.

 

[Viewer_Settings]

 

First Start: Tiff Viewer uses this INI file value internally for displaying the associated file types on the File extension dialog. Do not modify this INI file value.

 

Display_mode: The Tiff Viewer default view mode. If the "Save View Setting" is enabled, the Tiff Viewer will save the Display_mode configuration in the User TiffViewer.ini file on exit. (Please note; each user has his TiffViewer.ini file)

1: Single Page View – Continuous scrolling between the pages, with the pages arranged into one column.

2: Multi-Page View – Continuous scrolling between the pages, with multiple pages in a row. The number of pages in a row depends on the sizes of the pages in the document and the Tiff Viewer window size.

4: Actual Size – Displays the current page without any scaling factors, using the actual size of the page (in pixels).

8: Fit to Window – Scales the current page so that the entire page fits into the viewing window.

64: Normal Size – The current page is displayed and scaled to the page’s DPI (Dot Per Inch) resolution.

136: Fit and Center – Scales the current page so that the entire page fits into the viewing window and places it in the center of the window (Default).

192: Center Page – The current page is aligned to the center of the window. The page is displayed and scaled to the page’s DPI (Dot Per Inch) resolution.

4096: Fit To Width – Scales the current page to fit to the width of the viewing screen.

 

Selection_Mode: Selects the default tool that is activated when Tiff Viewer starts up.

The following values are available:

1: Zoom mode - Enables “Zoom Mode” when Tiff Viewers starts up. When Zoom Mode is active, clicking on the page zooms in on the document.

2: Panning - Enables the “Hand Tool” when Tiff Viewers starts up. The Hand Tool allows the user to scroll in the document by clicking on the page and dragging the mouse in any direction.

3: Annotation select (Default) - Enables the “Select” tool when Tiff Viewers starts up. When the “Select” tool is activated, one can use the mouse to select an area on the page for copying, select existing annotations (text, stamp, etc.), or place new annotations on the page. For more information about annotations, refer to the Annotating an Image section.

 

Auto_Rotate_Mode: Controls the Auto Rotation configuration of Tiff Viewer. The possible values are the followings:

0: Disable Auto Rotation (Default)

1: Rotate Landscape to Portrait clockwise

2: Rotate Landscape to Portrait counter-clockwise

3: Rotate Portrait to Landscape clockwise

4: Rotate Portrait to Landscape counter-clockwise

 

 

[FileAssociation]

This section will be used if “First Start”=0 and “File Extension Dialog”=2. Tiff Viewer will not be associated with the file type if the value is 0. Tiff viewer will be the default viewer for that file type if the value is 1.

 

tif: Controls the .TIF and .TIFF file association of the Tiff Viewer. The possible values are the followings:

0: Tiff Viewer will not be associated with .TIF and .TIFF files.

1: Tiff viewer will be the default viewer for TIF and TIFF files (Default).

 

fax: Controls the .FAX file association of the Tiff Viewer. The possible values are the followings:

0: Tiff Viewer will not be associated with .FAX file.

1: Tiff viewer will be the default viewer for .FAX file (Default).

 

jpg: Controls the .JPG and .JPEG file association of the Tiff Viewer. The possible values are the followings:

0: Tiff Viewer will not be associated with .JPG and .JPEG files (Default).

1: Tiff viewer will be the default viewer for .JPG and .JPEG files.

 

bmp: Controls the .BMP file association of the Tiff Viewer. The possible values are the followings:

0: Tiff Viewer will not be associated with .BMP file.

1: Tiff viewer will be the default viewer for .BMP file (Default).

 

png: Controls the .PNG file association of the Tiff Viewer. The possible values are the followings:

0: Tiff Viewer will not be associated with .PNG file (Default).

1: Tiff viewer will be the default viewer for .PNG file.

 

cal: Controls the .CAL file association of the Tiff Viewer. The possible values are the followings:

0: Tiff Viewer will not be associated with .CAL file.

1: Tiff viewer will be the default viewer for .CAL file (Default).

 

txt: Controls the .TXT file association of the Tiff Viewer. The possible values are the followings:

0: Tiff Viewer will not be associated with .TXT file (Default).

1: Tiff viewer will be the default viewer for .TXT file.

 

pdf: Controls the .PDF file association of the Tiff Viewer. The possible values are the followings:

0: Tiff Viewer will not be associated with .PDF file (Default).

1: Tiff viewer will be the default viewer for .PDF file.

 

ica: Controls the .ICA file association of the Tiff Viewer. The possible values are the followings:

0: Tiff Viewer will not be associated with .ICA file (Default).

1: Tiff viewer will be the default viewer for .ICA file.

 

mca: Controls the .MCA file association of the Tiff Viewer. The possible values are the followings:

0: Tiff Viewer will not be associated with .MCA file (Default).

1: Tiff viewer will be the default viewer for .MCA file.

 

afp: Controls the .AFP file association of the Tiff Viewer. The possible values are the followings:

0: Tiff Viewer will not be associated with .AFP file (Default).

1: Tiff viewer will be the default viewer for .AFP file.

 

 

[General_Settings]

 

Force Default Settings: When enabled, Tiff Viewer will ignore the settings in the user’s INI file, and will only use the settings in the default Tiff Viewer INI file located in the Tiff Viewer installation directory.

0: Use the settings from the user-specific INI file first. If the setting is not in the user-specific INI file, use the value from the default INI file. (Default)

1: Ignore the user-specific INI file, only use the default INI file.

 

Open_In_New_Window: Controls how Tiff Viewer opens documents if there is already a document opened in the current window.

0: Always open documents in the current window, closing the old document.

1: Open the document in a new window. (Default)

 

File Extensions Dialog:  Controls the file type association window

0: Dialog does not appear, and no association is made in the background

1: Dialog appears at startup to select the file association (Default)

2: Dialog does not appear and file type association will be implemented automatically according to settings in First Start and File Association sections.

 

Getting started: Controls the getting started dialog

0: Getting started dialog does not appear.

1: Getting started dialog appears during startup. (Default)

 

Check_Default_Tiff_Application: When enabled, Tiff Viewer will check if it is the default TIFF application when a TIFF file is opened. If Tiff Viewer is not the default, then the user will be asked to change the default TIFF application to Tiff Viewer. (only once for every Tiff Viewer window)

0: Tiff Viewer does not show a message if it is not the default TIFF application.

1: Tiff Viewer shows a message if it is not the default TIFF application. (Default)

 

Thumbnail_View: Enable the Thumbnail View for multi-page documents.

1:Enable the Thumbnail View for multi-page documents. (Default)

0:Disable this function.

 

Save View Setting: Enable Save View Setting feature. Selects the Save current view upon exit option in the Tiff Viewer Options > View. If Save View Setting is enabled, it overwrites the Display_mode configuration.

AutoSave: Enable Auto Save feature.

Show_Annotation_Color_Lost: Configures the action for Annotation burn in on monochrome images.

Enable_Burning_Annotations: Enable or disable burn-in of annotations. Tiff Viewer will only ask to burn-in the redactions that the user placed if this option is enabled. Otherwise, if the option is disabled, it is recommended to also disable the Redact feature. One may disable the Redact feature by setting the option ‘Enable_Redact’ to 0 in the TiffViewer.ini file inside the installation directory.

Enable_Loading_Annotations_Manually: Enable or disable manually loading annotations. Enables or disables the following items on the Tiff Viewer user interface:

NOTE: To make sure users cannot edit the primary INI file of the TIFF Viewer, the Tiff Viewer has to be installed into the default directory, or make sure the Tiff Viewer is installed into a directory that can be modified only by the Administrator.

 

Citrix-Disable_Recent_File_List: Disables the Recent File List on Tiff Viewer. This option is enabled automatically if Tiff Viewer detects an installed Citrix XenApp on the system, otherwise it will be disabled. This option improved the stability of Tiff Viewer, since in some cases the recent file list cannot be opened through Citrix XenApp due to security reasons.

0: Enables Recent File List. The recently opened documents will be shown in Tiff Viewer. (Default option on systems without Citrix XenApp)

1: Disables Recent File List. The recently opened documents will not be shown in Tiff Viewer. (Default option on systems with Citrix XenApp)

 

AutoLoadAnnotationFile: Configures the Enable loading annotation file automatically option in the Tiff Viewer Options > Annotation and Stamp > General.

0: Disables loading annotation file automatically option

1: Enables loading annotation file automatically option (Default)

 

Enable_Saving: If the "Enable Saving" is unchecked the Save and Save as function are disabled in the Tiff Viewer all users. If the "Enable Saving" is unchecked, Tiff Viewer doesn't ask for saving the modification when closing. The "Enable Saving" can be edited by Administrators.

0: Saving is disabled
1: Saving is enabled (Default)

 

Enable_Save_Browser: Enables or disables the saving feature in the Tiff Viewer Browser Plug-in.

1: Enable saving in the TIFF Viewer Browser Plug-in. The “Save TIFF File” icon will be active in the browser plug-in. (Default)

0: Disable saving in the TIFF Viewer Browser Plug-in. The “Save TIFF File” icon will be inactive in the browser plug-in.

 

Disable_Memory_Files: The “Disable_Memory_Files” option configures the TIFF Viewer to load the entire images into the memory before opening to reduce the loading time.

0: Enable loading the entire image into memory before opening a document. This option results faster loading. (Default)
1: Disable loading the entire image into the memory.

 

BurnAnnotationOnSave: Configures the “Burn annotation into the image when saving the document” option in the TIFF Viewer > Annotation and Stamp > General options. If this option is enabled, TIFF Viewer automatically burns the annotations into the opened file when saving the document.

0: Disable “Burn annotation into the image when saving the document” option (default)

 

BurnAnnotationIntoCopiedImage: Configures the “Copy the image with annotations burned in” option in the TIFF Viewer > Annotation and Stamp > General options. If this option is enabled, Tiff Viewer burns in the annotations to the copied page, so annotations will be visible in applications other than Tiff Viewer. The option only affects pages pasted into other applications. When copy-pasting pages into Tiff Viewer, the annotations remain editable.

Save_Annotations_To_Separate_File: Configures the “Always save annotations into separate file” option in the TIFF Viewer > Annotation and Stamp > General options. If this option is enabled, TIFF Viewer saves the annotations into a .ann file when saving a TIFF document, instead of saving the annotations into the TIFF file.

Restrict_Saving: When this option is enabled, every saved document will be saved into the specified directory. This feature is useful if Administrators want to restrict every User’s access to only one directory, or if Administrators want to keep the documents in one directory.

 

NOTE: When using the “Restrict saving into the following directory“ option, please make sure that every user who uses Tiff Viewer has write permissions in the specified directory.

 

0: Allows saving documents into any directory (Default)

1: Restricts the saving documents only into the specified directory

 

Set_Default_Save_Directory: Sets the directory that appears in the Save As dialog when it is opened. Possible values:

1: The Save As dialog always opens at the directory specified in the “Save_Directory” key.

0: The Save As dialog opens at the directory where the Image has been opened from, or where it was last saved to (Default)


Save_Directory: Specifies the directory, which will be used when the Restrict_Saving option, or the Set_Default_Save_Directory option is enabled. Environment variables can also be used to specify the directory, for example:

Enable_Tools: By using this option, Administrators can deny access for all standard users on the computer to the features under the Tools ribbon tab. The restriction not applies to users with Administrative privileges.

Enable_Redact: Enables placing the Redact and Whiteout annotations to the document. This option is disabled if ‘Enable_Annotations‘ is disabled.

0: Disables the Redact and Whiteout annotations.

1: Enables the Redact and Whiteout annotations. (Default)

 

Enable_Document_Cleanup: By using this option, Administrators can deny access for all standard users on the computer to the features under the Document Cleanup ribbon tab. The restriction not applies to users with Administrative privileges.

1: Allows accessing the features under the Document Cleanup ribbon tab for standard users. (Default)

0: Denies accessing the features under the Document Cleanup ribbon tab for standard users.

 

Enable_Options: By using this option, Administrators can deny access for all standard users on the computer to the settings under the Options window. The restriction not applies to users with Administrative privileges.

1: Allows accessing the options under the Options window for standard users. (Default)

0: Denies accessing the options under the Options window for standard users.

 

Magnifying_Scale: Sets the magnification value of the magnifying glass feature. The value is specified in percentages (without the % sign). The default value is 200.

 

Default_Copy_Mode: Specifies what should be copied when Ctrl+C is pressed.

1: Copy the selected image area

2: Use OCR on the selected area and copy the text

3: Copy both the image and the OCR text. The other application (where you paste the data) can decide to take the image or the text from the clipboard. (Default)

 

Quick_Copy_Page_Limit: Configures the amount of disk space Tiff Viewer can temporarily use when copying pages to other Tiff Viewer documents. If the count of the copied pages exceeds this limit, Tiff Viewer compresses the copied pages to use less space, but copying the pages may take longer.

It is also possible to set this value to -1, which disables the limit, and copies every page uncompressed, regardless of the amount of copied pages. This should be faster, and it is the default in Tiff Viewer.

 

1 or greater: If the count of the copied pages is not more than the provided number, all the pages will be copied using the faster method. Otherwise, all the pages will be copied using the slower method.

 

0: Copy pages using the slower method, which uses less temporary space, regardless of the page count

 

-1: Copy pages using the faster method, regardless of the page count (default)

 

 

Language_File: Tiff Viewer’s language file location.

Tiff Viewer supports English, French, German and Spanish languages.

 

If the language file location is missing, the Tiff Viewer will use English language.

Example for French language:

Default_Cut_Tool_Output_Folder: Sets the default output directory of the Cut File tool.

The value is a single line of text, max 35 characters.

 

Timestamp_Text_Position: Specifies the position of the additional text on the Timestamp, if the Timestamp_Show_Text option is enabled.

0: Place the text above the date and time. (Default)

1: Place the text below the date and time.

2: Place the text to the left of the date and time.

3: Place the text to the right of the date and time.

 

Timestamp_Text_Alignment: Specifies the alignment of the additional text relative to the date and time on the Timestamp, if the Timestamp_Show_Text option is enabled. And the text is placed above or below the date and time.

0: Align the text to the left (Default)

1: Align the text to the center

2: Align the text to the right

 

Timestamp_Burn_To_Every_Page: Specifies which pages the timestamp annotations will appear on, if the annotations are burnt in.

0: Only burn the timestamp annotations to the page where they were placed. (Default)

1: Burn the timestamp annotations to every page of the document.

 

[OCR_Settings]

Open_OCR_Output: Configures the application for opening the OCR output text file.

0: Always open OCR output in Notepad, or the system default text editor (default)

1: Always open OCR output in Microsoft Word (if installed)

2: Always open OCR output in the system default web browser

3: Always open OCR output with the custom application (configure it with the Open_With_Application option)

 

Open_With_Application=<path>

The absolute path of the custom application to use for opening OCR output text files. Only used if the Open_OCR_Output option is set to 3.

For example: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office16\WINWORD.EXE (Opens Microsoft Office Word 2016)

If empty, Tiff Viewer uses the default text editor on the system.

OCR_Language=<Language>
The language of the OCR. By default, the OCR_Language=English.

Output_Directory=<path>
The absolute path of the directory to save the OCR files.
For example:
C:\Users\Tester\Desktop
If empty, Tiff Viewer saves the OCR files next to the original document.

 

Save_OCR_Data=<number>

Specifies where to save the generated OCR data:

0: Do not save the OCR data

1: Save the OCR data to a TIFF tag (default)

2: Save the OCR data to a text file specified in the Output_Directory setting.

 

Separate_File_Format=<number>

Specifies the output format of the generated OCR data:

0: Save the OCR data as HTML, with position and font data, with .html extension (default)

1: Save the OCR data as Plain Text, with .txt extension

 

 

[Printer Settings]

 

Center Image Vertically=<1 or 0>

Enables or Disables the Center the Image Vertically option on the Print dialog of Tiff viewer.

Possible options:

1: Option Enabled

Center Image Horizontally=<1 or 0>

Enables or Disables the Center the Image Horizontally option on the Print dialog of Tiff viewer.

[Browser Plug-In Viewer Settings]

 

Force Default Settings: When enabled, the Tiff Viewer Browser Plug-In will ignore the settings in the user’s INI file, and will only use the settings in the default Tiff Viewer INI file located in the Tiff Viewer installation directory.

0: Use the settings from the user-specific INI file first. If the setting is not in the user-specific INI file, use the value from the default INI file. (Default)

1: Ignore the user-specific INI file, only use the default INI file.

 

Fit Mode=<number>

This option configures the default View Mode of the Browser Plug-In. Possible options:

40015: Actual Size

40044: Fit to Width

40028: Normal Size (Scale to DPI) (Default)

40046: Fit to Window

 

Zoom Mode=<number>

This option changes between Pan and Zoom mouse modes in the Browser Plug-In. Possible options:

0: Pan Mode – The page can be scrolled by holding down the left mouse button and dragging the page (Default).

1: Zoom Mode – The user can zoom in by clicking on the page or by selecting an area with the left mouse button

 

Always Show Thumbnails=<number>

This option configures the Show thumbnail for single documents of the Browser Plug-In. Possible options:

0: Disable/Uncheck the "Show thumbnail for single documents" on Browser Plug-In - Option (Default)

1: Enable/Check the "Show thumbnail for single documents" on Browser Plug-In - Option

Enables or Disables the Stretched to Fit Page option in TIFF Viewer Browser Plug-In.

Enables or Disables the Center on Page option in TIFF Viewer Browser Plug-In.

Possible options:

Print all pages=<1 or 0>

Configures the Default Printing Mode in TIFF Viewer Browser Plug-In.

Possible options:

1: Print all pages. (Default)

0: Print only the current page.

 

[Scan_Settings]

 

Remember_Batch_Scan_Directory=<1 or 0>

When this option is 1, the Tiff Viewer will always remember and use the previously used batch scan directory.

1: Remember batch scan directory (Default)

0: Do not remember batch scan directory

 

Batch_Scan_directory=<<USERPROFILE>>\Documents

This option specifies the default scan directory where the batch scanned documents will be saved. One can use environment variables in the path.

 

TwainDSM=<1 or 0>

Twain data source manager selection allows users to select which data source manager version must be used for scanning.

 

Values:

1: Use TwainDSM.dll (Twain 2.0 or later) - Default

0: Use Twain_32.dll (Twain 1.9 or earlier)

 

Duplex=<1 or 0>

Turns on double sided batch scanning if the scanner supports it.

Values:

1: Scan both sides of the page when batch scanning

0: Only scan one side of the page when batch scanning - Default

 

Show UI=<1 or 0>

Turns the Scanner Manufacturer’s user interface on or off when batch scanning.

Values:

1: Turn scanner user interface on

0: Turn Scanner user interface off - Default

 

File Format=<number>

Sets the file format for batch scanning. The following file formats are valid:

1: TIFF file format (.tif) – Default

2: JPEG image (.jpg)

3: Bitmap image (.bmp)

4: Dialogic Fax format (.tif)

5: GammaLink Fax format (.tif)

6: Bicom/NMS Fax format (.tif)

15: PDF file format (.pdf)

16: PNG image (.png)

 

Multipage=<1 or 0>

When turned on saves all pages into a single file when batch scanning.

Values:

1: Save each page into a single file (only valid for TIFF, and PDF file formats) – Default

0: Save each page into a separate file. In this case the page number will be appended to the file name. E.g.: Document0001.jpg

 

Append to Opened File=<1 or 0>

When turned on, Tiff Viewer will insert the scanned pages to the end of the currently opened document instead of scanning into a new file. The location of the new pages in the document can be adjusted by either using the Insert Before Selected Page or the Insert After Selected Page options.

Values:

1: Append scanned pages to the opened file

0: Scan to a new file. The new file’s location can be set via the Batch_Scan_Directory option.

 

Insert Before Selected Page=<1 or 0>

When Append to Opened File and this option are both turned on, Tiff Viewer will insert the scanned pages before the currently selected page in the document. If multiple pages are selected, the new pages will be inserted before the first page of the selection. This option and the Insert After Selected Page option cannot be used at the same time.

Values:

1: Insert newly scanned pages before the selected page in the document.

0: Append newly scanned pages to the end of the document (if Append to Opened File is enabled) – Default

 

Insert After Selected Page=<1 or 0>

When Append to Opened File and this option are both turned on, Tiff Viewer will insert the scanned pages after the currently selected page in the document. If multiple pages are selected, the new pages will be inserted after the last page of the selection. This option and the Insert Before Selected Page option cannot be used at the same time.

Sets the used TIFF compression for batch scanning.

The following values are valid:

206: CCIT G3 1D EOL

207: CCIT G3 2D

208: CCIT G4 - Default

209: JPEG compression

 

Color Depth=<number>

Sets the color depth for batch scanning.

0: 1 bit Black and White – supported by TIFF (all compressions except LZW differential and JPEG), BMP, PNG, PDF and all Fax formats – Default

1: 8 bit Grayscale – supported by TIFF (No compression, Pack Bits, LZW and LZW differential compression), BMP, PNG, PDF Formats

2: 24 bit Color – supported by TIFF (No compression, Pack Bits, LZW and LZW differential and JPEG compression), BMP, JPEG, PNG, PDF Formats

 

Number of Pages=<number>

Sets the number of pages when batch scanning. 0 means scan all pages in the feeder. Some scanners do not support setting the number of pages, these scanners might ignore this value. When Duplex scanning is turned on, this number controls the number of images, not the number of sheets.

Default: 0 (Scan all pages in the feeder)
