The Black Ice PDF 417 Barcode SDK/ActiveX toolkit allows developers to add 2D PDF 417 writing to their applications. The Black Ice PDF 417 Barcode Reading SDK/ActiveX toolkit is a robust and efficient 2D PDF 417 barcode library for reading/decoding, searching barcodes, and detecting barcode orientation.
PDF 417, or Portable Data File 417, is a two-dimensional stacked bar code capable of encoding over a kilobyte of data per label. This is useful for situations when a bar code will be used to store a substantial amount of data about an item, allowing developers to avoid database interaction. Since a PDF 417 barcode symbol can store a substantial amount of information, item specific data, such as the content of a shipping manifest or equipment maintenance history, can be stored directly on the item, without requiring access to a database.
Encoding data into a PDF417 bar code is a two-step process. First, data is converted into codeword values of 0 - 928, which represent the data. This is “high-level encoding." Then the values are physically represented by particular bar/space patterns, which is “low-level encoding." Decoding is the reverse process.
The Black Ice PDF 417 Barcode SDK/ActiveX toolkits are written to be image toolkit independent, and can be used with any Black Ice imaging toolkit, such as the
TIFF SDK/ActiveX
, the
Image SDK/ActiveX
, or the
Document Imaging SDK/ActiveX.
They can also be used with any third party imaging platform.
UNICODE file name support
UNICODE file name support ensures the usability of foreign languages and special characters in the filenames when using the Black Ice Barcode SDKs.
64 bit support
The Black Ice Barcode SDKs include 64 bit support from Version 6.00. 64 bit support ensures that the benefits of 64-bit hardware is fully obtained.
Sample Applications:
The PDF417 Barcode SDK/ActiveX contains a variety of sample applications, which demonstrate the capabilities and features of the toolkit. The product is fully .NET compatible and also provides sample source code written in C#, VB.NET, and J# to demonstrate the powerful document conversion options.
