Black Ice Software offers a number of virtual printer driver printing technologies to provide the best solution for our customers for their varying printing needs.


Single Printer Drivers


Single Printer Driver is recommended for low volume printing, as it offers sequential (single-threaded) printing. Sequential printing means that when one prints two documents, the printer driver prints the first document, and after the printing is done, starts to print the second document. This is the most commonly used solution.

This solution offers slower performance when printing more documents at the same time, although this solution has low system requirements and CPU usage.
Available for the Licensed printer drivers and OEM printer drivers.



Single Printer Driver with multiple Printers


Agent Printers are recommended for users using different configurations when printing documents. Each Agent Printer can be configured separately, allowing users to easily preconfigure each printer for specific tasks.

Agent Printers are printing documents sequentially (single-threaded) as the Single Printer Drivers, resulting in slower document conversion when printing multiple documents at the same time, although this solution also has low system requirements and CPU usage.
Available for the Licensed printer drivers.



Parallel Multi- Printer Drivers - single configuration INI file


Parallel Multi-printer configuration offers multiple printers, allowing parallel document conversion when printing documents to different printers at the same time. This driver configuration is the most efficient for high volume Automated document conversion. With high volume document conversion, the printing of document could be a significant amount of time, having multiple printers, allows automated parallel printing by to multiple printers at the same time. If needed, the Printers can be configured separately, Parallel multi-printers offers parallel printing and parallel conversion, resulting very faster document conversion, but higher system requirements and CPU usage. One System core is need per printer. For 6 printer one should have at list 7-8 core system.

Single Printer Parallel Driver (Multiport) with single configuration INI file


Single Printer Parallel Port configuration offers the similar performance in document conversion as the Parallel Multi-printers, although it only has one Printer. This printer configuration is recommended in the Print Server environment, where lots of users are printing at the same time such as faxing or archiving. This configuration does not allow parallel printing to the printer driver by an automated process such ad Document Converter Servers. This solution has higher system requirements and CPU usage.

Complete Parallel Printer drivers with separated configuration INI files


The Complete Parallel Printer offers the same performance in document conversion as the Parallel Multi-printer, or Single Printer Parallel Driver.

The Complete Parallel Printer comes with separate printers, Print Processors, Driver files, Port monitor and also, each printer is using a separate configuration INI file.

The separated configuration INI file allows Administrators to configure different Printer settings for each printer when adding the printers to the computer, resulting easier configuration. This printer driver configuration is recommended when the printer driver is integrated with a specific application. This configuration allows installing the printer drivers with completely different configuration.
