The PDF file format was created by Adobe. PDF provides a standard form for storing and editing printed publishable documents. The PDF file format is highly portable across computer platforms and will look the same on the screen and in print regardless of what kind of machine you are using or which software package was used to create that file. One major advantage of PDF is that a large document can be compressed small enough to download very quickly.
PDF support includes 1 bit, 8 bit color or grayscale, and 24 bit. Additionally, several compression methods are available for PDF generation.
